So did you hear the story about former bad Boy rapper Ma$e was about to get into a fight with chart topper J. Cole the other day? No? Okay check this out…

BET.com reports that apparently what set the Harlem’s World MC off was when J. Cole recently rapped in his “Forbidden Fruit” verse,’Cause a n—a poppin’ like Harlem in the nine-seven, way before Ma$e was a reverend.”

According to XXLthe Harlem World rapper stopped by 107.5 FM in Detroit to chat about where he is in his career, and it became a conversation about age gaps in rap.

“I like J. Cole when he’s not taking shots at me,” Ma$e said. “I saw him one day, I was gonna hit him, but I felt like I was too grown to be knocking light skin people out. But I really like him as an artist.”

“I wasn’t feeling church that day,” Ma$e said about his almost scrap-fest with Cole. “I wasn’t in the spirit when I saw him, but I caught myself — woosah.”

Pastor Mase says it must be a generational thing. “That’s a different generation,” he admitted. “In our generation you said something on a record, we see you, it’s action. But when I saw him I was thinking, ‘Oh, he’s just a kid… he don’t get it.'”

Cole, he said, must have underestimated that Murda Mase is still alive and spittin’. “…It’s like, ‘I need something to rhyme with ‘ace,'” Cole must have been thinking. “‘Let me think, ‘Ma$e’ would be good, he can’t do nothing, he goes to church.'”

But he also goes to the booth, M-A-dollar reminds us. He is currently recording his next LP, Now We Even, which he says is really “personal.” He also hinted that there might be a Harlem revival with his long-time friends The Diplomats. “I did speak to Jim [Jones], we supposed to be working together, and me and Camgonna work together at some point.”
