The Broncos have signed defensive end DeMarcus Ware to a three-year, $30 million deal, with $20 million guaranteed.

Ware will join forces with Von Miller to form what could be a devastating pass-rush combination. On Tuesday, the Broncos signed safety T.J. Ward and cornerback Aqib Talib to big-money deals. Based on their pending visits and conversations with free agents, linebacker could be the next position they try to upgrade.

The signing gives the Broncos a great chance to avenge their Super Bowl blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Peyton Manning is returning for what could be his final season, and the Broncos clearly have the weapons on offense to be great again, even with the flameout in the Super Bowl. Now, it appears as if the defense has some firepower of its own to match.

The move, however, comes with drawbacks. Ware, Talib and Ward all have been beset by injuries the past few seasons, and the Broncos have committed $60 million guaranteed. Ultimately, nothing short of winning a Super Bowl this coming season, or perhaps the one after that given Manning’s short window, would qualify these moves as being a success.

John Elway is apparently unfazed by the pressure.
