“Wow. My reaction is wow. I love hip-hop right now. … Certain fans like certain eras of rap, certain fans are not up on certain eras, so they don’t really remember all of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, KRS-One, MC Shan and all the way to Busy Bee. This is what hip-hop is all about. You gotta ask [Kendrick what he meant]. I’m a listener.”

The singer is so concerned about her prized asset losing a few pounds during her gruelling world tour that she is trying to bulk it up again, according to a report from Britain’s Mail on Sunday.

“She hopes she sees a difference soon.”

Many have noted the similarity between Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” and Robin Thicke’s song-of-the-summer smash hit “Blurred Lines,” and now Thicke has gone on the offensive to ensure that the sonic likeness of the two songs doesn’t end up costing him any money.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news late Thursday: Thicke, along with Pharrell Williams and T.I., filed a lawsuit against Gaye’s family and Bridgeport Music. In the case, the trio of music makers say they have “the utmost respect for and admiration of Marvin Gaye, Funkadelic and their musical legacies,” but must “reluctantly file this action in the face of multiple adverse claims from alleged successors in interest to those artists.”

Gaye’s family and Funkadelic (the relevant compositions of whom are owned by Bridgeport), have insisted that “Blurred Lines” is too similar to their original songs. Here’s a bit of the tick-tock, courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter:

The suit claims the Gaye family is alleging that “Blurred Lines” and Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” “feel” or “sound” the same, and that the “Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work.”As for Funkadelic, there’s said to be claimed similarity between Thicke’s hit and Funakedlic’s “Sexy Ways.”
“But there are no similarities between plaintiffs’ composition and those the claimants allege they own, other than commonplace musical elements,” states the lawsuit. “Plaintiffs created a hit and did it without copying anyone else’s composition

“Blurred Lines” is currently in its tenth week atop the Billboard Hot 100, making it summer’s biggest song. The lawsuit, however, isn’t the first controversy to hit the track — an earlier dust-up with critics who found the lyrics and x-rated music video to be misogynistic was eventually brushed aside by Thicke himself.

Lisa Robin Kelly, who played Laurie Forman on That 70s Show, died last night in rehab after going into cardiac arrest. In and out of rehab for years, Lisa battled to stay clean for a while until reports say she may have had an altercation with her ex-husband Robert Gilliam, which may have triggered her untimely demise.

Lisa’s agent told TMZ, “She had been fighting demons for a while and finally lost her battle.”

Chris Brown and his team of lawyers must have been been workin’ overtime, because all charges in the hit and run case against him from earlier this year have been dropped:

Chris and the victim struck a civil compromise — she didn’t want any money because the damage was so minor and she wanted the case dismissed. But the L.A. City Attorney objected, arguing to the judge this morning that Brown was very aggressive toward the victim after the accident — calling her a “bitch.”

The City Attorney also argued that Brown was on felony probation and therefore his alleged misconduct of leaving the scene without anteing up a California driver’s license was all the more serious.

The judge, however, didn’t buy the City Attorney’s argument and dismissed the case.

WWE superstar Darren Young was in the grip of a force more powerful than John Cena when he decided to come out of the closet … and that force is love.

WWE sources tell TMZ … Young told the wrestling org. he is “deeply in love” with his boyfriend of 2 years … a man named Nick (pictured above with Young). We’re told Young — whose real name is Fred Rosser — has been living with Nick for some time now in Florida.

Our WWE sources say Young told them Nick was actually the driving force in his decision to come out.

The hits just keep coming for Miguel, but mostly out of the studio! Miguel was arrested for a DUI this week:

According to TMZ Miguel was pulled over for speeding and tinted windows around 2am Thursday morning when officers detected the smell of alcohol.
Miguel was ordered to take a series of sobriety tests, which he failed, and blew .10 and .11 on his breathalyzer, well over the .08 limit.

Miguel was booked and released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled for his first hearing in September.
